Alabama has had Super Bowl success at quarterback with the first three MVPs being Crimson Tide products, along with Super Bowl 11 winner Ken Stabler. Joe Namath won MVP for the Jets in Super Bowl 3 against the Colts without scoring or throwing for a TD. COMEBACK KIDSSan Francisco reached the Super Bowl thanks to an epic comeback against Detroit in the NFC title game. HOUSTON (AP) — From the couch to the playoffs, Joe Flacco had an incredible run with the Cleveland Browns. But his stretch of success came to a sudden end on Saturday, when the Browns lost 45-14 to the Houston Texans in a wild-card playoff matchup. “It’s definitely a shame the way it went down and hard to deal with at the moment,” Flacco said. Watson was under center for the Texans during their last playoff run in 2019 but played just six games for the Browns this season. “I love it here, (but) we’re dealing with so much going through the emotions of this game,” Flacco said.

Stroud became the youngest quarterback to win a playoff game after throwing for 274 yards and three touchdowns, and the Houston Texans returned two interceptions by Joe Flacco for scores in a 45-14 rout of the Cleveland Browns in a wild-card matchup Saturday. Stroud, the second overall pick in the draft last April, is also the highest-drafted rookie QB to win in the postseason. Stroud threw for 236 yards and three touchdowns before halftime as the Texans built a 24-14 lead. With the Texans up 45-14 with nine minutes to go, Stroud’s work was done, and he was replaced by Davis Mills. Two plays later, Stroud connected on a short pass with Collins for a 15-yard score to put the Texans on top 10-7.

CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cleveland Browns are signing former Super Bowl MVP quarterback Joe Flacco to their practice squad, a person familiar with the decision told The Associated Press on Sunday night. The addition of Flacco bolsters Cleveland's quarterback depth after Deshaun Watson was lost for the season with a shoulder fracture. The 38-year-old Flacco will give the Browns an established backup as well as a mentor for Thompson-Robinson, who went 24 of 43 for 165 yards and an interception against the Steelers.
